According to Sinchew, The National Broadcasting Company (NBC) revealed that three sources briefed on the matter about an unofficial private analysis report on mobile phone location data claimed that the Wuhan laboratory which studies coronavirus, had shut down once in October.
The report is obtained by the NBC news verification unit which is based in London. The report suggests that there is no mobile phone activity in the area of the Wuhan Institute of Virology from October 7 to October 24 last year. Thus, it is believed that a "dangerous event" may happen in between October 6 and October 11.
Neither the report provides direct evidence of laboratory shutdown, nor mention evidence of novel coronavirus leak out from the laboratory.
If the Wuhan laboratory was really closed at that time, it might prove that the novel coronavirus leaks out accidentally from the laboratory.
However, many scientists are skeptical of the lab theory and still believe in a more reasonable explanation that the novel coronavirus is transmitted from animals to people.
The analysis did not provide direct evidence to support the closure of the laboratory as it seems to present only a small fraction of mobile phone data.
