As the entire country is slowly starting to get vaccinated, the "empty jab" incidents have also been spreading like wildfire on the Internet, stirring up citizens, especially those who have yet to receive their vaccinations. While one of the volunteers who was recorded in one of these "empty jab" incidents have been reprimanded, the government has also decided to try and prevent further incidents from happening.
In an effort to protect both volunteers and citizens, Minister of Science, Technology, and Innovation - Khairy Jamaluddin has said that recording the vaccination process with your phones is entirely allowed. The Special Committee on Covid-19 Vaccine Supply (JKJAV) have also since issued a Facebook post, depicting the complete procedures before, during, and after the vaccination jab which will hold both the vaccinator and vaccinees equally accountable.
Let's have a look:
Before the Jab
At this point, to avoid being seen as troublesome, some vaccinees might feel shy or embarassed to ask for a longer look or a double check. Don't feel that way! Just proudly ask to check it again until you're comfortable with what you're receiving.
During the Jab
There's no need to ask for permission to record a video or take a picture while you are being vaccinated. Even better, keep an eye on the syringe if you're not too afraid of it. Just a friendly reminder that the vaccinator will pull the syringe slightly before pushing the vaccine in, so no need to panic when that happens!
After the Jab
Many vaccinators will instantly put away the syringe as they would have to reach for the cotton or tape to cover up the jab wound. Do ask to see the syringe again to make sure it is really empty.
Being properly vaccinated requires both the vaccinator and vaccinees to do their part. Do keep these procedures in mind as you go out in the near future to receive either your first or second dose of the vaccine. Let us work together to prevent the next "empty jab" incident from happening!
