A recent incident involving a roller coaster train purportedly slipping off its tracks at a fun fair in Raub, Pahang, has garnered widespread attention. The video footage of the incident began circulating on Tuesday after being uploaded by a Facebook user in the Raub Pahang Residents Group. In the uploaded clip, several visitors, including a child, can be seen crying in pain, presumably affected by the incident. Simultaneously, an adult woman is heard screaming in distress in the same video.
Meanwhile, a separate viral clip depicts the moments before the roller coaster train, with multiple passengers on board, derails from the track. "It's strange how it could slip off the track," the caption in the video reads.
Additionally, a TikTok user who uploaded a video of the incident expressed concerns regarding the safety measures of the amusement rides at the fun fair, despite the relatively high prices. They noted that during their recent visit, each ride cost RM10 and lasted for only two spins, not even lasting two minutes. They remarked that safety seemed insufficient.
This sentiment was echoed by numerous online users who shared their experiences at the venue. Some accused the management of being unconcerned about visitor safety while patrons enjoyed the rides. One user mentioned that during their visit, most of the riders were adults, which felt unusual as there were more adults than children on the rides. Another user questioned whether the claims were true, stating that if they were, the fun fair management would be at fault. They suggested implementing age or weight restrictions for adults and questioned whether everything was permitted solely for financial gain.
As of this report, the extent of injuries sustained by the visitors involved in the incident remains uncertain. Authorities have yet to release any statements regarding the incident.
