What astonished viewers even more was the elephant's response, which appeared to understand the man's words and obediently walked back into the forest. The surreal moment, shared by the man himself on TikTok, quickly gained widespread attention, with many netizens expressing amazement at his composure and connection with the wild animal.
Some users even reached out to him, eager to learn how he managed to tame such a powerful creature so effortlessly.
No Special Tricks, Just Faith
The man in the video, identified as Mohamad Amir Faizal Mohd Zaki, later shared more details about the encounter. In an interview with Harian Metro, he revealed that there were no special techniques involved.
"There's no special knowledge used (to chase the elephant) other than reciting Bismillah, performing zikir, and the prayer of Prophet Sulaiman," he said humbly.
A Routine Patrol Turned Unexpected Encounter
The incident occurred on April 12, while Mohamad Amir was carrying out a safety patrol along the East-West Highway between Gerik and Jeli, around 5 PM. As he approached the area near Pergau Dam, he spotted the elephant walking onto the road, heading towards a car.
Without hesitation, he simply gave the elephant a verbal cue to return to the forest. Remarkably, the animal complied, retreating to the roadside, an act Mohamad Amir says was purely for the safety of all road users and to ensure smooth traffic flow.
A Volunteer with a Purpose
At 47 years old, Mohamad Amir is a volunteer with the Sungai Petani Response Team. Since November 2023, he has taken it upon himself to conduct regular patrols along the highway to assist those in needwhether it's due to road accidents, flat tyres, fallen trees, or other emergencies.

"The highway runs through a remote area. In case of an emergency, it can take rescue teams nearly an hour to arrive. So I try to offer help early on," he explained.
400 km Journey Powered by Devotion
To carry out these patrols, Mohamad Amir travels about 400 kilometres from his home in Sungai Petani, Kedah, all on a motorcycle. Sometimes, he brings his wife and child along, turning the journey into a mix of volunteer work and family bonding.
"We usually stop for a bit of leisure time at the Titiwangsa Range. While helping others, I also get to enjoy moments with my family," he said.
Throughout his trips, he stays spiritually grounded by reciting Bismillah and zikir, especially when encountering wild animals. "When that happens, I recite Prophet Sulaiman's prayer," he added.
More Than Just Elephants, Even Tigers
To everyone's surprise, the elephant wasn't the only wild animal Mohamad Amir had come across. He revealed that he once even encountered a tiger on the same highway.
He also took the opportunity to advise the public on how to handle such unexpected situations.
"When you see an elephant, don't stop to take photos. They don't like that, he warned. And don't stop in isolated areas or feed the animals. If you see a wild animal, don't slow down, just keep driving."
Viral Fame, Fatherly Calm
The video, lasting 2 minutes and 11 seconds, struck a chord with many viewers thanks to Mohamad Amir's calm, almost fatherly demeanor while directing the elephant. It felt as if a parent was gently telling a child what to do.
Following the popularity of the video, he has since posted another clip where he shares the spiritual practices he regularly follows during his patrols and wildlife encounters.
For many, his story is more than just a viral moment, it's a reminder of faith, humility, and the power of good intentions.
