Girl’s Double-Chin Selfies Take Over Instagram | Followers over 50k?!

Since Instagram has become a huge part in our lives, we record our life and stories on it every now and then. As time passes, the platform becomes more than just a  place to check in, but a place to win more likes and followers. In order to achieve that, we do whatever those influencers do : nicer clothes, trendiest make-up, coolest pose, and captions, sharing out the prettiest side of ourselves.

One girl from Boston, USA, gained over 50k followers, by NOT doing what most people does, but the exact opposite - showing the ugly side of herself.

Meet Michelle Liu, the girl who created the Double-Chin Selfie trend on Instagram and has gained tons of likes and followers.

Michelle Liu loves to travel. Like everyone else, she takes photos of herself travelling to different places. Unlike many other influencers, she does not own a "perfect" body, nor "pretty" face, therefore to pose and take photos that matches with what the social standard verified as nice and Like-worthy is quite stressful to Michelle.

In face of the crazy social standard, Michelle decided to take a different approach by doing a Double-Chin selfie, making a signature image of her own, rather than following the societies' voice. And her move paid off!

Feeling confidence again, Michelle shared out tons of her travel photo on Instagram, and has won over many people's heart for her witty idea and her love for herself. She even invites people to pose together with her, including an entire troop of travelers and even air-stewardess.

What a brilliant idea this is! Not only in terms of creating an iconic way of doing selfie, but also how a person is accepting her own flaws with great pride. We look up to you, Michelle!
