Netflix, you ain't slick.
Netflix has never been cool with its subscribers sharing their account with multiple people, and now they have a way of charging people who choose to do so.
New feature on Netflix?
They are introducing a new feature called "Add A Home" where Netflix users can purchase extra "homes" to share their Netflix account with. The tool also allows you to stream Netflix while travelling on a tablet, laptop, or phone. Additionally, according to Netflix, a new feature will soon allow customers to manage where their accounts are being used and to delete extra residences at any time.
When will it be available?
The function will debut on August 22 according to the Netflix Help Center. It's important to note that when someone shares their account with another family, Netflix won't automatically add homes and charge a fee; instead, users will be prompted to add homes and consent to the additional fee.
What are the rules?
The feature's use is subject to a few restrictions. Depending on its tier, a particular account may only be able to add so many more "homes": A second residence may be added to a Basic account, a Standard account, two, and a Premium account, three.
How much does this feature cost?
In addition to your regular membership rate, each residence must pay a monthly fee of US$2.99. However, this fee is much lower than the price of a complete Netflix subscription, so there's some money saved there.
Additionally, only a few nations namely, Argentina, the Dominican Republic, El Salvador, Guatemala, and Hondurascan use the "Add A Home" option.
