Former PM Najib Razak Speaks Out About McDonald's Price Hike On Menu Items

No doubt that we live in a nation where fast food holds a special place in our hearts however recent price increases at various fast-food outlets have left Malaysians raising eyebrows and questioning their wallets. 


Notably, former Prime Minister Najib Razak who is now serving his sentence in prison took to social media to address the escalating prices at McDonald's, a beloved go-to spot for many after a long day.



Highlighting the issue, Najib Razak shed light on the significant price surge of McDonald's menu items, emphasizing that the prices have skyrocketed by more than 50%!

To support his claim, he compared several popular meals from December 2017 to the present day, revealing startling price differences. One of the examples he cited was the beloved McChicken burger, which has experienced an 86% price increase, soaring from RM5 to RM9.29.

Even the McNuggets Happy Meal has seen a 68% hike, with the price jumping from RM6.80 to RM11.42.


Najib's social media post ignited a mixed response from netizens, with some pointing out that he should have compared prices from before the introduction of the Goods and Services Tax (GST) in 2011 for a more accurate understanding of the situation.

Others raised questions about the current post-pandemic global scenario and whether prices could realistically remain the same as they were in 2017 if he were still in power.
