Two teens, one of whom is a student, were apprehended by authorities for possessing RM31,000 worth of cannabis. Superintendent Nik Aminuddin Raja Abdullah, the Deputy District Police Chief, revealed that the two individuals were apprehended near Kampung Banggol Petaling close to Rantau Panjang, with a Perodua Kancil also confiscated during the operation on Sunday.
According to the statement released, a police team arrived at the site following a tip-off from the public and spotted the vehicle passing by at approximately 3:15 p.m. The officers proceeded to halt the car, which contained two teenagers, for a thorough inspection which they found a total of 10kg of cannabis inside the vehicle, leading to the detention of the two individuals, aged 18 and 16.
Raja Aminuddin specified that one of the apprehended individuals is currently enrolled in a school in Rantau Panjang. Further investigations revealed that one of the suspects had a prior record involving drugs. Additionally, both individuals tested positive for drug use.
The suspects have been remanded for seven days, starting from yesterday, to facilitate ongoing police investigations into the matter.
