Instead of using a RM2,000 windfall for a personal treat or a much-needed vacation, a teacher decided to spend the money for a classroom makeover.
In a thread on the X app, user @DarwinKamal said he invested the 'bonus', believed to be from the early incentive payment to all civil servants in Grades 56 and below , into transforming his classroom into a haven for learning.
"Where has the 2K (RM2,000) bonus gone? Let me share it with you. Here are the pictures of my class before the renovation (makeover)," he wrote in a post, accompanied by four photos of the classroom before the makeover.
The photos showed a classroom that was previously painted yellow, green and orange, with a colourful rubber mat on the floor.
He then shared photos after the makeover, where the classroom is now in white and black, and the rubber mat floor removed.
"The theme is simple and comfortable for me and my students. It took a week (for the makeover to be completed.)
"This is not the result of my work alone, but also the parents, the school's cleaning staff, senior teachers, the school management and the Parent-Teacher Association (PTA)," he said.
Two time-lapse videos of him, the parents, the cleaning staff and PTA were also shared in the post.
