Yesterday, June 6, at the Bandar Seri Putra intersection, a Perodua Viva carrying a mother and her kid nearly avoided a fiery death when it unexpectedly caught fire near a traffic signal.

The vehicle was burned to a smoking wreck after the 7.20 am event, but the two managed to escape with their lives.

Syazwana Ahmad Sabri Parwira described the terrifying event to Harian Metro, stating that she was on her way to take her kid to a religious school in Bandar Seri Putra when the fire broke out.

She continued by saying that she smelled something burning as she pulled over at the traffic signal but didn't give it much consideration.

"Within a minute or so, smoke began to flow out, and I quickly stopped the engine. A few seconds later, I saw flames, so I hurriedly got my kid outside the car."

"I was shocked and scared because everything happened so quickly," the woman remarked.

When the fire department came, Syazwana Ahmad stated that her attempt to put out the fire using a fire extinguisher that a bystander gave her had been ineffective and the vehicle was completely damaged.

After just three years of ownership, Syazwana Ahmad found the Perodua Viva to be too much to handle and broke down in tears upon seeing the car in pieces.

"To be honest, when I saw the vehicle burn, my heart hurt. I sobbed. I got the automobile to make everyday chores like picking up and dropping off my child at school easier. Since this has been the very first time this has happened, I'm not sure what caused the fire," she added.

According to her, the fire department believes it was caused by a wiring and engine problem.

Syazwana Ahmad has since submitted a police complaint at the Bandar Seri Putra police department as well as the Kajang Traffic police station, expressing gratitude that neither she nor her kid were hurt in the incident.
