Concerns are growing on social media over images showing an expanding crack on the Setiawangsa-Pantai Expressway (SPE) flyover in Jalan Cheras. The photos, shared by @update11111 on X.com, reveal that the crack has significantly lengthened since April 2024, as depicted in Google Maps images. The latest photos, taken in June, not only show the crack extending but also the structure appearing to sag.

This alarming development has sparked widespread worry among netizens about the safety of the flyover for both motorists and pedestrians. Many are urging authorities to conduct an immediate inspection and address the potential hazard.
The current unpredictable weather is seen as a contributing factor that could exacerbate the damage, posing a heightened risk to public safety.
Responding to the outcry, Minister of Public Works, Datuk Seri Alexander Nanta Linggi, emphasized the government's commitment to safety. In a statement on X, he assured the public that the situation is being taken very seriously and that a thorough inspection will be conducted promptly to ensure the safety of all road users.
Saya amat memandang serius perkara ini.
