South Korean actor Yoo Ah In, known for his role in the 2018 film Burning, drama Chicago Typewriter and Hellbound is currently facing sexual assault allegations.
According to the Seoul Yongsan Police Station, he allegedly assaulted a 30-year-old man, while the man was asleep on July 14. A report was sent in to the police the following day.
Investigations are ongoing on whether the actor, who is already facing charges for habitual drug use, committed the alleged assault while under the influence of substances.
In September 2020 and March 2022, he was accused of administering propofol 181 times and then illegally obtaining sleeping pills under another person's name in May 2021 to August 2022.
Since the case, prosecutors have been seeking a four-year prison sentence and fines totaling approximately to 2.5 million KRW (about 3,300 USD).
His defense team has requested leniency, citing his struggles with depression, anxiety, and insomnia, which has led to a psychiatrist recommendation of hospitalization and sedative medications.
Based on recent updates, the actor's legal representative, has denied the sexual assault allegations and urged the public to avoid speculating about the suspect's personal life.
