A group called Anonymous Malaysia, which were believed to be involved in hacking the Malaysian government computer systems for a while now, have apparently been detained by the Royal Malaysian Police (PDRM).
Reported yesterday, the police arrested 11 men (aged 22-40 years old), who were suspected of being a part of the group, in seven raids which took place country-wide.
The raids were carried out by officers from around Klang Valley, Perak, Johor and Pahang after allegedly spying as well as, conducting intelligence on the men. Investigations also found some of these men to be administrators of the Facebook group ‘Anonymous Malaysia’.
The arrests were said to be made following, the group’s threats and intimidation to hack the government’s computer systems, over the past years. Besides that, they have also been suspected of carrying out organized cyber-attacks on government websites.
At the moment, investigations are still underway and the police have yet to identify the remaining suspects.
