Enough is Enough - Malaysians Virtually Riot

03-Jul-2021

It has been over a year since Malaysia began battling the pandemic, and since then, it would appear that things have only gotten from bad to worse.

From the continual rise in Covid-19 positive cases and deaths, the clear social and political injustices between the rich and not so rich, pure disregard by the government for all the sh*t going down within the country, as well as countless other indiscretions, Malaysians are struggling.

Trending the #Lawan and #BenderaHitam on Twitter, as well as other social media platforms, people are virtually rioting. Their claims and a call for change are but three:

1. For the prime minister to resign

2. For parliament to reconvene

3. For the state of emergency to end

Waving black flags, as well as spreading black and white images online, netizens are all coming together to stand in solidarity with the oppressed, amidst this deadly plague.

The country which was doing well battling the Covid-19 virus, met a downfall in September of 2020 when a state election was held.

The unprecedented spike spread like wildfire and four months later in January of 2021, parliament announced a close, declaring a state of emergency throughout the nation.

However, six months into the lockdown, the numbers have continued to surge on, leaving only more wreckage in its wake.

Fighting the government on the daily, people have been pushing parliament to reconvene, with the hopes to break the vicious cycle Malaysians have been in for the longest of time. Unfortunately, their pleas have been met to no avail.

Based on official reports released yesterday, Putrajaya made an announcement to reopen before August 1st 2021.
