Malaysian latest Prime Minister, Ismail Sabri recently revealed that in between 2020 and 2021, the federal government has approximately spent RM1,073,580 for renovations and furniture replacements— roughly at the same time when then Prime Minister Muhyiddin Yassin announced the government was running out of money due to Covid-19 related expenses.
This statement was in reply to Segambut MP Hannah Yeoh in a parliament seating when asked regarding the government's expenditures. According to Ismail Sabri's written reply, the government spent over RM 350K on furniture alone. Two Cabinet ministers and two deputy ministers from two different portfolios under the Prime Minister’s Department were apparently involved in the arrangement.
Let's hope now that these ministers have a more comfortable office setting, they'll have better motivation to govern and lead the country.
