PORT DICKSON - A gold shop owner was robbed by a group of five men armed with machetes at the Old Shell Petrol Station, Lukut here today.
Port Dickson District Police Chief, Superintendent Aidi Sham Mohamed said the police received an emergency call regarding the incident at about 10.15 am.
"The victim, a 50-year-old man who is the owner of a gold shop in Port Dickson town, informed us that he was attacked by five men armed with machetes who were in two vehicles.
"The suspect blocked the front and rear of the victim's car while the victim was at the petrol station," he said in a statement here today.
It is understood that during the incident, the victim was driving in a Toyota Camry while the suspect was driving in a Honda CRV and a Perodua Myvi.
According to Aidi Sham, the suspect took three bags containing jewellery, a mobile phone, cash and personal documents belonging to the victim before fleeing.
"While the suspect fled, the victim chased the suspect's vehicle and squeezed one of the suspect's cars, causing the vehicle to lose control, slide on the shoulder of the road and overturned.
"The victim then turned back but the suspect managed to escape and two bags of jewelery that were stolen were found in a black Honda CRV that overturned in front of a row of shops by the Lukut roadside," he said.
Aidi Sham explained that the results of the check on the chassis number of the Honda CRV also found that the vehicle was reported missing and robbed in November 2021 in Sri Hartamas, Kuala Lumpur.
