This means no more waiting in the cold offices that are ham packed with people. YAY! But, this brings a whole new complication... How do I renew my passport online?
Well, thank God for this Twitter user, @anisssurayaaa because she just shared a whole guide on how to do it online. Here's the step-by-step guide:
#1 Go to the Jabatan Immigresen Malaysia's e-Services platform
After reading the terms and conditions click on "Setuju" or Agree.
#2 Fill in the information required
To make things easier, have your old passport ready next to you so that you can refer to it for the details needed.
#3 Choose where you'd like to pick up your passport
Next, a list of locations where you can pick up your passport will be displayed. Pick whichever location is nearest to you and the system will determine a time and date for you to pick it up based on the time and date you renewed your passport.
*Tips: Try renewing before 3pm on weekdays, your new passport could be ready the very same day!
#4 Upload your passport photo
The next step is to upload your passport photo. Please make sure that your photo matches the specifications provided:
- white background
- dark coloured clothing
- dark coloured headcovers that don't cover your face for those wearing hijabs
- no glasses or contact lenses
- must be a soft copy taken at a professional photo shop, no polaroids allowed
#5 Make the payment
You can make your payment using a credit card or through direct debit (FPX). Here's how much it would cost:
- Normal Passport (13 - 59 years of age): RM200
- Senior Citizens (60 years and above): RM100
*Tips: Keep your receipt!
6. Collect your passport
Bear in mind that no representative is allowed to collect your passport for you. You will have to bring:
- your identity card
- old passport
- receipt
For those below 18 years of age, please bring your guardian and birth certificate along.
