The catfish documentary gets a 'right swipe' from me! Honestly, it's a series truly worth watching in my book.
A salacious saga of love and deceit take center stage in The Tinder Swindler, whereby a man's dashing persona turned three women's lives into a spiraling descent of depression.
*Warning: spoilers ahead*
Beneath his glossy Tinder profile and (now deleted) Instagram account plastered with designer duds, jet-setting lifestyle and dashing good looks- scheming Simon Leviev (aka Shimon Yehuda Hayut) is anything but a diamond heir he claimed to be.
The con man's seemingly genuine affection and opulence lured his Tinder matches into thinking he was legit. Once the ladies found out the horrifying truth, Simon was untraceable. Even worse, the funds they kindly loaned to him (on the grounds of 'evading enemies') disappeared into thin air as well.
In contrast, his luxurious lifestyle was actually 'unknowingly' paid for by them- a heavy price that resulted in crippling debt.
The series serves a brutal reminder of the scary sophistication of catfishers, whereby you can NEVER judge a dashing look solely on its exterior. Love, on the other hand, can be easily manipulated when you're naive enough to fall for 'a white lie'.
