You know what they say, if it ain't broken, why fix it?
Based on reports, South Korean broadcast station SBS, appeared to have edited Michelle Yeoh's Oscars speech and they are being labelled misogyny.
On 14 Mar 2023 Michelle Yeoh became the first Asian actress to win the Best Actress award at the Oscars. She received her first Oscars at 60 and shared a positive message of hope to women all around the world.
However, when aired on SBS, the word 'ladies' was deliberately removed.
Netizens went into an uproar, calling out SBS for being misogynistic.
The broadcaster then responded and said "We excluded the word because we felt that the message, 'Don't let anyone tell you, you are ever past your prime', isn't exclusive to women."
SBS News has since deleted the edited segment from YouTube and re-uploaded her full, unedited speech.
But, many described the move as censorship and have called for an official apology.
