In an effort to help 36 fortunate individuals, the state of Selangor will be launching a new initiative to sponsor the cost of performing Haj this year, for the first time in the states history.

Speaking at a ceremony today, Menteri Besar Dato Seri Amirudin Shari stated that under this initiative, a sponsorship of between RM 18,000 and RM30,00 will be allocated for each lucky individual.

"This year, for the inaugural time, we are introducing this assistance. At the same time, we will maintain the RM500 to RM1,000 aid for each Muassasah pilgrims." he said.

"The only difference is that this year, we will pick for pilgrims from each district to be sponsored."

"I dont think there are any other states that offer a similar assistance like this. This is what we can do to help the people to the best of our ability," he continued, while also specifying that only those who qualify will be selected for this initiative.

Amirudin further went on to state that RM3 million has been allocated for the Muassash Haj Pilgrims Incentive programme, by the state government, which would be double the amount than what was provided for last year.

On top of this generous resource, pilgrims are also set to receive a travel kit, which will be made up of travel necessities such as medications, sanitizing liquids, lotion and lip balms.

While making this announcement, Amirudin was also seen at this ceremony, distributing Hari Raya Aidilfitri offerings to 500 Hulu Kelang residents, all thanks to Menteri Besar Selangor (Incorporated)
