A young couple in Aceh has been sentenced to 100 strokes of the cane after they were caught having premarital sex.
Images of the punishment have been circulating on the internet. Both the convicts and the police can be seen wearing face masks throughout the process.

While the punishment is inevitable, it was good that the preventive measures for COVID-19 were not forgotten as well.
Aceh is the only province in Indonesia, the world’s biggest Muslim-majority country, that practices Islamic law officially. Under the law, individuals who have sex before marriage will receive 100 strokes.
This couple was taken to a mosque before they getting 100 strokes in front of it.
