CYBERJAYA - A 73-year-old military retiree died after being beaten and injured by his son who is also mentally ill in an incident last Wednesday.
In the incident in Kampung Jenderam Hulu, Dengkil, the 48-year-old suspect is said to have stepped on the victim's head and face besides injuring him with a cake-cutting knife.

Putrajaya District Police Chief, Assistant Commissioner Wan Kamarul Azran Wan Yusof said the investigation found that the suspect was said to have lost control before going on a rampage and beating the victim.
He said the suspect was said not to have taken sedatives for a long time, causing his behavior to be difficult to control until he acted to injure the victim.

"When arriving at the scene, the victim was lying down covered in blood, especially on the face, including wounds due to knife cuts on several parts of the body.
"The victim suffered severe injuries to the face and is believed to have been stepped repeatedly by the suspect. The victim was also injured in the chest and both hands.
"The autopsy report found that the victim died due to severe injuries to the face and cracks in the skull," he said at a press conference after launching Ops Roda here today.
He said the victim, who also suffered from anemia and seizures, was taken to Serdang Hospital for autopsy.
