1. Studios bidded rights to the book before it was even published
2. Warner Bros wanted Tim Burton to direct, Columbia wanted Richard Donner and 20th Century Fox wanted Joe Dante
3. Universal won and wanted Spielberg, so they made a deal saying they'd do Schindler's List
4. Filming took place on Hawaiian island Kauai, 3 weeks in, the island was hit by hurricane Iniki
5. Spielberg and DP Dean Cundy went to film the hurricane, some of those shots made it into the movie
6. Kevin Costner, Dennis Quaid, Mel Gibson, and Robin Williams were all considered for the role of Dr. Alan Grant
7. After filming wrapped, Spielberg gave all of the cast a signed velociraptor model
8. The triceratops was animatronic, there were 8 puppeteers below the triceratops and 4 inside it
9. The remote-controlled animatronic model of the T-Rex was 25ft high and weighed 7 tons, they had to raise the studio roof to make room for it
10. The budget was $63m, the film grossed at $913m and Spielberg made $250m--the largest sum one person has made from a movie
