Lizzo appeared on her Instagram this afternoon to announce that she is 'quitting' the music industry.
In her not so lengthy statement, she says she is tired of putting up with getting dragged by everyone in her life and on the internet.
"All I want is to make music and make people happy and help the world be a little better than how I found it. But I'm starting to feel like the world doesn't want me in it," Lizzo, real name Melissa Viviane Jefferson, wrote on Instagram March 29.
Since August 2023, when three of her former dancers sued her for allegedly fostering a "abusive work environment" and weight-shaming them, the "About Damn Time" artist has become more reclusive.
Lizzo responded regarding the claims on August 3rd of last year, through Instagram yet again.
"Sometimes I have to make hard decisions but it's never my intention to make anyone feel uncomfortable or like they aren't valued as an important part of the team," she said, referring to the charges as "sensationalised stories."
And now months later, I guess the Truth Hurts because the 35-year-old concluded "I didn't sign up for this shit, I QUIT." (peace sign emoji)
