Shaving our underarms is second nature to us, and most times, we hardly pay attention to the minute aspects of the common ritual. However, like it or not, the devil is usually in the details.

Despite being as easy as it is, there is a number of important things we are yet to follow, when it comes to shaving underarms, and here are 4 of them.

#1 Exfoliate

Before you start shaving with a shaving cream, or some soap, you are encouraged to exfoliate. Exfoliating your armpits before you start, can ensure that your shaving process is cleaner and safer.

The sweat and bacteria under your arms may cause an infection, should you accidentally cut yourself while shaving. So, it'd be best to remove all grub before you begin.

#2 Shave in all directions

Believe it or not, your armpit hair does not only grow in one direction. Quite the opposite, as a matter of fact it grows in all directions.

Due to that, the smart method to shaving would be to simply shave in every direction. Besides that, do not go over the same area one too many times, because you could end up hurting yourself.

#3 Hold up on the deodorant

Once you're done shaving, it'd be in your best interest to steer clear from your deodorant for a little while.

Applying an antiperspirant to freshly shaven skin, can bring about an irritation and sting your armpits. The best move would be to give it some time, before you use it again.

#4 Moisturize

Last but not least, be sure to moisturize your underarms after you're done shaving them.

Using moisturizing creams or applicators like oil, aloe vera or alcohol-free moisturizer will help soothe your underarms and keep them hydrated after a shave.
