In a shocking incident in Sabah's southwestern district of Tawau, a 36-year-old woman was ambushed and assaulted by five other women following allegations that she was a "homewrecker." The attack occurred on Monday (Dec 30) at around 11 am in a hotel car park.
According to TheStar, the victim, a divorcee, reported that her vehicle's tyres had been deliberately punctured before the assault. It is believed that tensions escalated after accusations surfaced, labeling her as a homewrecker. However, the woman denied the claims, asserting that her boyfriend was single.
Tawau district police chief Asst Comm Jasmin Hussin confirmed the incident and stated that a police report was filed at 4:41 pm on Wednesday (Jan 1).
"In the report, the woman claimed she was attacked by five other women while in the hotel car park. Additionally, her vehicle was vandalized, with its tyres punctured," Jasmin said.
The police swiftly launched an investigation into the case under Section 148 of the Penal Code for rioting and Section 427 for vandalism.
Acting promptly, officers managed to track down and detain five suspects aged between 16 and 62.
"We have secured a remand for the suspects and are pursuing further investigations, including identifying witnesses to shed more light on the incident," Jasmin added.
