Many of us long to have beautiful, silky hair cascading down our shoulders, bouncing in slow motion just like girls in the movies. But, it isn’t an easy process, is it?
Let’s give our hair some TLC with these natural remedies for softer, silkier and shinier hair.
1. Rice water
This is a natural remedy that has been dominating HairTok for a while now.
It involves rinsing your hair in some rice water, massaging it into your scalp and then leaving it in for an hour for thick, shiny and stronger hair. After that, you just wash your hair with shampoo and conditioner, then you’re done!
To prepare the rice water, you will need:
+ 1 cup of uncooked rice
+ water
+ a pot
+ orange peels (not necessary, just to make the rice water smell good)
Here’s the instructional video on how to make it:
2. Coconut Oil
The ancient protector of the hair!
Applying coconut oil is good for moisturizing your hair, especially if you have dry and frizzy hair and also preventing damage.
You can easily use it as a hair mask by simply rubbing it into your hair and leaving it in for a few hours or overnight before washing it. It is as easy as ABC!
3. Eggs
Some like them boiled, some like them scrambled but we like them raw and on our heads!
This natural remedy only uses the white part of the egg as it contains more protein which is like hair fertilizer.
It can be done by simply separating the egg whites from the yolks and adding in some lemon juice to get rid of the eggy smell. Whisk it together until combined then apply it to your hair. Leave it in for about 20 minutes before washing with shampoo and conditioner.
4. Aloe Vera
If you have oily or damaged hair, Aloe, the ancient healer will rid you of all your calamities and leave you with healthier, shinier and softer hair.
All you have to do is get some aloe from your garden. Cut it open and extract the gel with a spoon. Apply the gel to your hair and scalp and leave it in for 1 hour before washing with shampoo and conditioner.
5. Bananas
Known for having high potassium and moisture levels, bananas can prevent split ends, soften the hair and protect its elasticity.
Just get some bananas on your way home from work, mash them up with a fork then apply thoroughly on your hair. Leave it in for 1 hour before washing with shampoo and conditioner.
Conclusion
With our busy schedules, most of us barely have time to take proper care of our hair. These natural remedies take only a few minutes to prepare and while letting them soak in your hair, you can get some work done. Let's give our hair the TLC it deserves!
