When you go to a wedding, you normally leave with some chocolates or something personalized by the newlyweds as a door gift. Basically, something you can eat or use.
However, who knew that onions could be used as a wedding door gift in addition to being cooked in the kitchen?
The video was posted on TikTok by Aldrik Gohel (biyahenidrik) who is part of the couple's wedding planning team, Moments by Ruffa.
It shows Jason and Lorelei, the newlyweds, surprising their guests by revealing their giveaway station, which included packing lasona onions, or local red shallots, in weaved bags.
Given how expensive onions are in the Philippines, it is not unexpected that people hold them in high regard. Particularly considering the manner the newlyweds distributed onions to their wedding guests.
Plus as Asians, we use onions in our cooking all the time, therefore I say A+ for execution!
Based on the wedding planner, he confirms that the couple runs an onion business in Ilocos and thought it'd only be fit to give some away to their friends and family during their big day.
Some may think it is strange, but it is quite the opposite, actually. Maybe something to think about for our future weddings, ey?
