Ensuring food safety and cleanliness is of utmost importance, especially when it comes to the well-being of those indulging in the meals. Finding foreign objects in food can trigger a sense of disgust and instantly diminish one's appetite. Previous incidents have highlighted cases where customers encountered foreign objects like screws, wires, hair clumps, and fishhooks in their meals.
A recent TikTok video posted by user @just_a_peek shed light on a rather disturbing find within a chocolate bar wrapper. The video showcased images of a partially severed human finger, complete with a fingernail, discovered within the chocolate packaging.
The colour of the finger closely resembled that of the chocolate, making the sight even more unsettling. In the video's caption, the TikTok user advised the public to always inspect their food before consumption to prevent such incidents.
Commenters on the video expressed feelings of disgust and unease upon seeing the severed finger within the chocolate packaging.
Many netizens were taken aback and had not anticipated such a foreign object to be part of the discovery. Initially mistaken for a clam, raisin, or tamarind, upon closer inspection, it undeniably appeared to be a human finger.
Some netizens also cringed at the sight of the customer handling the finger with their bare hand, without any protective covering.
The public was urged to promptly report such incidents to the State Health Department (JKN) if they come across food vendors who fail to adhere to safe food preparation and sales practices. Complaints can be lodged through the Public Complaints Management System (SisPAA) of the Ministry of Health's website or by directly contacting officials at nearby District Health Offices.
