ICYMI: WATCH: Crystal-Clear Video Of Sabah's Natural Beauty Captivates International Viewers
Most people visiting the world famous Petronas Twin Towers will stop to snap a few pictures for themselves. Whether it is group pictures, selfies, wefies or just a shot of the buildings, the world's tallest twin towers always make for great photography.
Malaysians, however, have noticed a disturbing trend and have been complaining online. Of late, there have been several individuals who offer paid photography services at Kuala Lumpur City Centre. While you cannot blame anyone for trying to make a living, netizens have complained that at least some of these have resorted to harassing those wanting to take pictures, leaving visitors feeling disturbed.
Others also claim that the photographers, mostly foreigners, charge ridiculous prices for their services.
In a video shared by @traveljimat_ on Instagram which garnered over 34,000 likes, netizens shared their frustrating experiences after coming across these "photographers".
User @ha_5650 claims to have been conned into agreeing to the photo service when the photographer offered to only charge RM10 to take pictures.
However, they were then told to pay RM10 per photo after the photographer transferred eight images to their phone.
"At first he said something different so we got duped into agreeing to it. After that, he even said that foreign tourists will be charged RM30 per photo," she said.
User @qissajat_official said: "Where is the local authority? Why let this go rampant? It is a free place for tourists, whether local or foreigners.
"When I was a wedding photographer, (we had to have) permission from the KLCC (management) to take pictures.
"If not, the guards will not allow it and ask us to leave. Now, I'm not sure.
"But they (the foreign photographers) should be asked to pay KLCC management for using their 'property' which is the building. Taking pictures for business and personal reasons are two different things," he said.
