This year, there won't be any Hari Raya Aidilfitri activities held in Seri Perdana, stated Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim.
"Instead, I will follow and attend events at the states organized by the ministers," he said during today's monthly meeting at the Finance Ministry.
The finance minister, Anwar, also urged government organizations to take caution and plan modest Raya festivities.
He asserted that they had to show caution while using public cash, particularly for events and festivals.
"Please refrain from competing over who puts on a larger, grander event.
"That's not even your money."
Since taking office, Anwar has discontinued the tradition of holding an open house at the Seri Perdana compound on the first day of Aidilfitri.
Rather, he goes to events arranged by organizations in various states.
