The team, consisting of Lai Chia Chien, Nicholas Ng Khai Shuan, Ong Jun Yang, Eng Jun Hao, Yong Zhan Quan, and Chong Han Hui, succumbed to a 2-0 defeat against the home team, China, at the Hangzhou Esports Centre.

Malaysia, having received a direct entry to the knockout stage as the Southeast Asian champions of the 2022 AESF Road to Asian Games, had previously triumphed over Hong Kong and Vietnam on their path to the final.
