Some Malaysians are mocking and being disrespectful about the K-pop star So Young's stage name, "Babi".

So young is one of the members of Fly With Me and takes "Babi" as her stage name. However, there are some ignorant people who leave mean comments on her photos to mock her name, such as  "the prettiest pig in the world", as "babi" means pig in Bahasa Malaysia. Some of them have requested her to change her name too.

So young has had enough with the Malaysians' mockery and attacks, she posted an angry statement, saying that

"Malaysians who came here to mock my name have to see this post"

"... I am not interested in your language... So it doesn't matter what my name means in your language... And I didn't know your country but I don't want to know anymore."

"If the same thing happens after you see my post, I will report everyone and block the account"

She has disabled comments on her profile and continues using her stage name.

The related incidents happened 2 years ago when the British singer-songwriter Dua Lipa used the word "babi" to refer to her father.

The word "babi" in Albanian, where her parents are from, actually means "father".

Lipa posted a birthday message with a father-daughter photo on Instagram with the caption, "Happy Birthday babi, I wish I was home to give you a big hug and kiss."

The supposedly sweet post became a mockery when Malaysian flooded the post with mean comments.

Why are people not learning from the lessons but keep on making the mistakes? It only shows how bad is our Malaysians' attitude and leaving a bad impression about our country. There are so many languages in this world, so why don't we educate ourselves with different languages, share the culture, and respect everyone with peace and love.

Stop mocking and educate ourselves with knowledge and manners.
