The 33 years old coffin maker - Josua Hutagalung was working as usual near his house in August this year and suddenly a space rock fell from the sky. The meteorite crashed through the roof of his living room and finally fell in front of his house. It was still warm after Josua and his wife dug it out with a hoe.
The meteorite was sold to the US experts in the study of space materials with the price of £1.4 million (approximately RM 7.3 million). The huge sum of money is equivalent to Josua’s 30 years of salary and gave him the opportunity for early retirement.
Experts on meteorite found that the meteorite is about 4.5 billion years old and contains rare elements. According to the Lunar and Planetary Institute of Texas, after the meteorite was shipped back to the United States, it was sold to Indiana doctor and meteorite collector - Jay Piatek and it is currently being placed in The Meteorite Research Center of the University (ASU), Arizona.
