Following the previous record of RM69 for a plate, a new patron has shattered expectations by crafting a unique combination of ingredients, driving the price to an astonishing RM78 and sparking widespread discussions.
The owner of the Nasi Kandar Sulaiman stall in Penang revealed that the customer, hailing from Kelantan, opted for an extravagant selection of ingredients. This included 7 pieces of squid (RM49), 7 prawns (RM14), along with chicken (RM5.50), squid eggs (RM7), lady's fingers (RM1), and plain rice (RM1.50), resulting in a total cost of RM78.
Expressing both surprise and delight, the vendor acknowledged the breaking of the previous record set at RM69 by a customer from Johor. The Kelantan customer, who specifically traveled to Penang for this culinary experience, praised the delectable taste of the Nasi Kandar, deeming it well worth the journey.
Accompanying the revelation, the vendor shared a snapshot of the "Nasi Kandar Leaderboard," showcasing the top three contenders with prices of RM78 (Kelantan customer), RM69 (Johor customer), and RM61 (Penang customer).
