The meteorological service (MetMalaysia) has issued hot weather warnings for 14 locations across the country, including Perlis, Kedah, Kelantan, Sarawak, and Sabah.
According to MetMalaysia, inhabitants in these areas may expect temperatures ranging from 35°C to 37°C for at least three consecutive days.
Langkawi, Pendang, Kuala Muda, Kubang Pasu, Pokok Sena, Sik, Baling, and Bandar Baharu in Kedah; Gua Musang in Kelantan; and the entire state of Perlis are all affected.
Higher temperatures are also forecast for Mukah and Telang Usan in Sarawak, as well as Tuaran and Tenom in Sabah.
According to Free Malaysia Today, MetMalaysia defines heatwaves as temperatures ranging from 37°C to 40°C for three days in a row, while intense heatwaves are anything over that.
The present hot and dry weather has resulted in peat fires in numerous parts of the country, including Sarawak and Pahang, as well as one death due to heat stroke.
Malaysian citizens are encouraged to stay hydrated by drinking plenty of water and to remain indoors during this hot weather. This helps to prevent dehydration and reduces the risk of heat-related illnesses. Keeping yourself hydrated and seeking shelter indoors can contribute to your well-being and comfort during periods of high temperatures.
