As the Lunar New Year approaches in T-minus 5 days amidst our sad circumstance, why not spruce the celebration up, with some homemade cocktails?
Making some of these creative yummy concoctions may not bring life back to what it used to be before the virus, but it may lift up our spirits this festive season.
Without further ado, here are 11 easy cocktails you can make at home!
1. Cape Codder
What you would need:
- 3 ounces cranberry juice
- 2 ounces vodka
- A slice of lime
- Ice cubes
How to:
Add cubes to glass, pour one after the other, and add lime wedge.
2. Daquiri
What you would need:
- 1 1/2 ounces light rum
- 3/4-ounce fresh lime juice
- 1/2-to-3/4-ounce simple syrup
- Ice cubes
How to:
Add cubes to glass, pour according to measurements and shake well.
3. Highball
What you would need:
- 2 ounces whiskey
- 4 to 6 ounces ginger ale (or club soda)
- Ice cubes
How to:
Add cubes to glass, pour whiskey followed by ginger ale and stir.
4. Gin and Tonic
What you would need:
- 2 ounces gin
- 4 to 5 ounces tonic water
- A slice of lime
- Ice cubes
How to:
Add cubes to glass, pour gin followed by tonic water, and add lime wedge.
5. Rum and Coke
What you would need:
- 2 ounces rum
- 4 to 6 ounces Coca-Cola
- A slice of lime
- Ice cubes
How to:

6. Dark ‘n’ Stormy
What you would need:
- Dark rum
- Ginger beer
- Lime
- Ice cubes
How to:
Add cubes to glass, pour rum, ginger beer and add lime wedge.
7. Woo Woo
What you would need:
- 25ml peach schnapps
- 25ml vodka
- 50ml cranberry juice
- Ice cubes
How to:
Add cubes to glass, mix vodka and peach schnapps together, add cranberry juice and stir.
8. Strawberry Gin
What you would need:
- 700ml bottled gin
- 400g strawberries (sliced)
- 100g caster sugar
- Ice cubes
How to:
Mix gin with strawberries and caster sugar. Put in fridge and stir every two days, strain and serve.
9. Cherry Vodka
What you would need:
- 400g cherry
- 200g caster sugar
- Bottled vodka
- Ice cubes
How to:
Slice the cherries, put in a pan with the sugar and 150ml of water. Heat and stir till the juices run and sugar has dissolved. Place in a jar, add vodka and store in fridge.
10. Bellini
What you would need:
- 500ml peach purée/peach nectar
- 1 bottle prosecco
How to:
Pour peach puree, followed by prosecco, and stir.
11. Watermelon Vodka
What you would need:
- Watermelon
- Vodka
How to:
Slice watermelon, put in jar/bowl/cup, add vodka, store in fridge and let it sit for a few days.
