7-Eleven in Japan is getting more convenient as they recently introduced their new high-tech hologram registers for self-checkout kiosks. The konbini's (convenience store) technology is the world's first aerial display for retail cash registers.
Based on the video above, the display is invisible from a distance. However, if you stand in front of it, you can see the hologram register. Believe it or not, its quite easy to use.
How to use:
1) Scan your items. The holographic screen will pop-up at an angle which is only visible to you.
2) You are given the choice to continue scanning your items or choose from the selection of Seven Café beverages.
3) After scanning everything, press OK on the 'floating' screen and proceed for payment.
4) Done paying, you can pick up your items and be on your merry way.
Easy peasy, lemon squeezy.
Reminder: This hologram register doesn't take cash. So remember to bring your payment cards or other contactless payment option.
What an efficient way to minimise human contact especially since the COVID-19 virus is still at large. This will definitely be able to reduce the spread of the virus as customers don't have to come in close contact with shared surfaces and other people while purchasing their goods.
Hoping this technology would be available in Malaysia soon!
