The Movement Control Order (MCO) has affected many businesses, including Zoo Negara Malaysia that has been closed since March 18.
Astro Awani reported that Zoo Negara Malaysia is using its emergency funds to keep the animals as there haven't been any ticket sales.
Zoo Negara deputy president Rosly Ahmat Lana said this is a challenging time but all animals are in a good condition.
"The fund of Zoo Negara is mainly from ticket sales, space rental, company's sponsorship and donations from the public," Mr. Rosly said.
"No organization had come forward to contribute to the fund during MCO," he said.
As such, he invited the public to donate by adopting an animal at the zoo.

The adoption packages start from above RM50 to RM500. You can select your preferred adoption package or donate any amount.
Malay Mail reported that Zoo Negara receives RM70,000 from the public after pleading for help.
However, the RM70,000 donation is not enough to cover the operating costs which amount to an estimated RM1 million per month.
“Even if the COVID-19 pandemic heals, for the next six months or so after that not many would visit the zoo as they would need to recover their own financial setbacks.
“Please support us with monetary contribution — no matter how big or small — it will really help us amid these trying times.”
Note: Please verify any relevant information with Zoo Negara before making any donations to avoid possible scams.
If you can, please spare some money for the animals.
