If you have been anxiously anticipating the film extension to the Toy Story franchise, Lightyear, brace yourself for disappointment as the Pixar film will not be screening in any Malaysian cinema.
Due to one particular moment in the film showing a same-sex kissing scene, which now deems the film controversial, the premier of Lightyear in Malaysia has thus been canceled, reports The Star. However, we have yet to see any official statement from either the Walt Disney Company Malaysia or the Film Censorship Board of Malaysia.
Voiced by actor Chris Evan, the titular character embraces the real story and untold history of the space ranger, which was initially scheduled to be aired in Malaysia on the 16th of June.
It looks like fans of Buzz Lightyear might need to resort to other resources to watch their childhood film. What do you think of this issue? Let's discuss this in the comment section!
