A Form Three student was seriously injured after the motorcycle he was riding was hit by a lorry at the traffic light junction of Lebuh Alor Gajah-Melaka Tengah-Jasin (AMJ) in Parit Putat, Sungai Rambai.
Jasin District Police Chief, Deputy Superintendent Ahmad Jamil Radzi, stated that Muhammad Iqram Rosli, 15, was reported to have a broken arm and severe injuries to the body as a result of the incident, which occurred at around 2:50 pm.
"Preliminary investigations found that the lorry was travelling from the Muar direction towards Jasin. "Upon reaching the AMJ Parit Putat traffic light junction, the driver continued as the traffic light was green.
"However, a Honda Wave motorcycle from the left side of Sungai Rambai town emerged from the junction and was hit by the lorry as the rider did not brake and avoid it.
"As a result of the collision, the motorcycle rider, also a student of a secondary school, suffered a broken arm and severe injuries to the body, while the lorry driver was unhurt," he said in a statement this evening.
Ahmad Jamil said the victim was taken by ambulance to the Muar Hospital and is currently being treated in the red zone.
He added that the case is being investigated under Section 43(1) of the Road Transport Act 1987.
