A 'mamak' restaurant in Bandar Cemerlang, Ulu Tiram, has been temporarily shut down by the Johor Bahru City Council (MBJB) to undergo a thorough cleaning. This action was taken following the viral spread of images showing two individuals dining at the restaurant with their pet dogs.
Seri Alam District Police Chief, Superintendent Mohd. Sohaimi Ishak, stated that the restaurant owner has filed a police report at the Ulu Tiram Police Station, denying any claims that the establishment allows customers to bring pets inside.
The case has been referred to MBJB, and the local authorities have issued a notice to close the restaurant temporarily for cleaning, he said in a statement today.
The controversy erupted after a photo circulating on social media showed a man and a woman dining at the 24-hour restaurant late at night, with their two dogs sitting on chairs provided by the establishment.
