Experiencing cold is sometimes quite painful and uncomfortable. Luckily, Public Health Malaysia recently shared the following tricks to relieve cold symptoms.
1. Drinking hot tea can relieve nasal congestion
According to Koichi Hirata, a Chinese tea expert in Japan, it is recommended to drink green tea if you want to prevent colds. The catechins in green tea can neutralize the toxicity of active oxygen in the body and effectively prevent colds. Meanwhile, if you want to alleviate cold symptoms, it is recommended to drink black tea.
2. Eating ginger can relieve nausea
Ginger contains gingerol, which can enhance blood circulation, stimulate gastric juice secretion, promote digestion, invigorate the stomach, and increase appetite. However, it should be noted that ginger is not suitable for everyone, especially those with hepatitis, bad breath, constipation and yellow sputum.
3. Eating ice-cream can relieve sore throat
Eating ice-cream is often considered taboo when we suffer from colds. A cold is an infectious disease, and it has nothing to do with wind and cold food.
When you have a sore throat with a cold, you can eat ice cream to relieve the pain and lower your body temperature.
In addition, the Japanese believe that the egg and milk ingredients in ice cream are rich in carbohydrates, proteins and lipids. Those are good sources of nutrition when you have a cold.
4. Dinking soup can aim for hydration
Soups contain a lot of water; hence, they can keep the respiratory mucosa of the human body moist and relieve the symptoms of colds. In addition, the soup can also provide richer nutrients. It is recommended to drink some relatively light soup appropriately when you get cold.
5. Eating bananas can increase satiety
Banana is a fruit that is rich in starch. It can increase white blood cells and improve the body's immune system. Besides, bananas also can increase satiety for patients with poor appetite.
6. Drinking plenty of water can relieve respiratory inflammation
Colds are generally viral infections or secondary bacterial infections. Drinking plenty of water can promote metabolism, regulate body temperature, and eliminate toxins in the body.
In addition, colds are often accompanied by respiratory tract inflammation. Patients may have pharynx, laryngitis, and bronchitis. Inflammatory reactions often cause symptoms such as redness, swelling, heat and pain. Patients often feel dryness in their respiratory tract. Hence, they need to be hydrated in time to help the body recover.
7. Consuming garlic can cure nasal congestion
Garlic is rich in protein, calcium, phosphorus, iron, vitamin B and C as well as 20 other ingredients, which can enhance immunity and prevent cardiovascular diseases. If you have a mild cold (such as sore throat, runny nose, nasal congestion), eating garlic in time can promote body sweating and promptly unblock the nose. However, it should be noted that people with poor gastrointestinal conditions should eat less garlic as it can also destroy the gastric mucosa.
