A key prosecution witness in the Penang undersea tunnel graft case, Datuk Ewe Swee Kheng, appeared to have fallen to his death from a 17th-floor of the Palazzo Condominium in Pulau Tikus, at approximately 2 AM today.

Datuk Ewe, who was the managing director of Penang-based property developer Ewein Bhd, was once arrested by MACC in 2018 as part of the investigation into the undersea tunnel project involving former finance minister Lim Guan Eng. Ewein then denied the allegations.

Northeast district police chief Soffian Santong said they received a distress call from the public at around 5 AM upon discovering a dead body near the condominium's swimming pool. The victim’s body was then sent to Penang Hospital’s Forensic Unit for a post-mortem.

Oddly, the police neither confirmed nor denied the victim's identity.
