In a surprising turn of events, a Malaysian man recently embarked on a room-hunting journey in the Shah Alam area. Eager to find an affordable place to stay, he contacted a landlord who advertised a room for an unbelievably low price of RM250 per month.
However, the shocking images he received in response quickly changed his perspective.
Theres no way I would rent this kind of room again. The aircond room I cannot

landlords, please. pic.twitter.com/kQo60kOKyQ
Expressing his dismay, the man took to Twitter to vent his frustration with the seemingly heartless landlord who had recommended several rooms to him.
To his utter disbelief, each room was described as "unbearable" and reminiscent of prison cells. The images painted a bleak picture: cramped spaces that barely accommodated a mattress, devoid of any room for a wardrobe or even a small desk. However, the most concerning aspect was the shared air conditioning system with the neighbouring room.
According to the landlord's pricing scheme, the room with shared air conditioning was offered at RM250 per month, while the same room without air conditioning came at a slightly lower price of RM200.
Additionally, for those seeking a slightly more spacious room, the rent increased to RM280 per month without air conditioning and RM350 per month with air conditioning.
Though tempted by the affordability, the man couldn't fathom subjecting himself to such living conditions. After careful consideration, he politely declined the landlord's offer, stating that he would never agree to rent a room that resembled a prison cell.
Please jangan support landlord lahnet macam ni. Walaupun kita ni tak ada tenancy act, tapi jangan lah mata duitan sangat adoi. Diorang ni beli rumah lepastu tak mampu bayar, harapkan tenant untuk bayarkan sampai buat partition bagai nak gila. Abah dia

The man's tweet instantly ignited a flurry of discussions and comments from netizens who shared his frustration and criticized the appalling conditions depicted in the photos. The shocking revelation highlighted the importance of adequate and habitable living spaces, emphasizing the need for fair and reasonable rental standards in the market.
There's hardly even any space to put all my clothes, never mind my other possession. I'd better get paid for that space rather than paying for it.

While the quest for affordable accommodation continues, stories like these serve as a reminder to potential tenants to be vigilant and thoroughly inspect rental properties before committing to any agreements. It is crucial to prioritize personal comfort and safety, ensuring that the chosen living environment meets basic standards and promotes a healthy and conducive lifestyle.

As discussions surrounding the issue persist, it is hoped that landlords and property owners will take note of such concerns and strive to provide suitable and dignified living spaces for prospective tenants. After all, everyone deserves a home that offers comfort, security, and peace of mind.
