BUKIT JALIL: A video of a child, who was allegedly abused and forced to climb out of a condominium balcony onto the roof in Bukit Jalil, went viral all over social media yesterday.
Head of the Criminal Investigation Department (CID) Kuala Lumpur Senior Assistant Commissioner Saiful Annuar Yusoff said, his department received a report regarding the video of the contagious incident at 4 pm, yesterday.
"Following the report, the Sexual, Women and Children Crime Investigation Division (D11) of the Kuala Lumpur CID conducted an investigation into the video.
"The results of the investigation found that the five-year-old went to her grandmother's house which was also the location of the incident with the family to make preparations for his aunt's wedding ceremony.
"The child's father informed the victim that he was hyperactive. During the incident, the victim climbed out of the balcony of the house and onto the roof because she wanted to see the swimming pool on the ground floor of the condominium," he said in a statement, today.
Saiful Annuar said, after about three minutes, the child's parents, aged 31 and 34 respectively, managed to persuade her to re-enter the house.
We are opening an investigation paper on the incident in accordance with Section 31 (1) (a) of the Children Act 2001.
The public is advised not to speculate, share and disseminate information from unauthentic sources and that could interfere with the police investigation.
"We also strongly warn the public not to get involved in any offense that violates the law," he said.
