A Facebook user, Stella Lim, has alerted the public and local business owners about a recent scam attempt targeting a restaurant in Penang.

The warning was on the Penang Kini Facebook page, detailing how two women impersonated health officers to extort money from the establishment.

According to Lim's post, the incident occurred when two women visited the restaurant claiming to be representatives from the health department.

They demanded RM400 from the staff, alleging that the payment was required for the renewal of the restaurant's operating license.

To appear legitimate, the women even provided official-looking receipts during their visit.

At the time of the incident, the restaurant's owner was not present, and the staff refrained from making any payments without authorization.

Undeterred, the imposters reportedly contacted the restaurant later that same evening, reiterating their demand for the RM400 payment.
