Instagram, Facebook, WhatsApp And Messenger Were All Down Yesterday | Here's What We Know So Far:

05-Oct-2021

If you stayed up late last night, then you'd know the total chaos that is the global #InternetShutDown that witnessed social media's biggest platform temporary downfall. Facebook's apps, including Instagram, WhatsApp, Messenger, And Occulus appeared to be dysfunctional—much like most of our exes.

Although Facebook has had a similar mishap in the past, the cause for its latest shutdown remains vague and unclear. However, here are a few theories:

• Facebook whistleblower Frances Haugen was about to stand before the US Congress to regulate the company
• Cyberattack was ruled out by the Facebook teams, saying it's rather unlikely
• Security experts said there most likely was a problem with Facebook’s server computers

In the midst of all that unfathomable disarray, Facebook came to Twitter to offer their apology.

After about six hours, all the affected social media platforms slowly risen back from their temporary death, and all is well again. Kind of makes you think just how dependent we really are as a population on some damn apps, ey?

PSA: As security measures, perhaps it's best that you change your passwords on all the affected platforms, just to be safe.
