Following the rising price for ingredients, restaurant owners are regrettably forced to put a higher price on everyday staples like roti canai, chicken rice, and now teh tarik as well.
As reported by the Malaysian Insight , prices for such food are generally expected to rise from 10% up to 15% in the following month. The report also stated that the country's heavy reliance on imported food has majorly contributed to the price crisis that Malaysia is currently facing.
According to the Malaysian Indian Muslim Restaurant Owners Association (Presma) president Jawahar Ali Taib Khan, "For the time being, we will try to maintain our prices. But we don't know for how long. If prices of goods keep going up then we will consider it. There will be a 10% increase, at most," he added, "We are not going for more profit but the volume of sales. We don't want to burden the people as everyone is suffering."
