Recently, an anonymous parent had confided in a local writer and parenting activist, Adlil Rajah on a recent shocking incident experienced by their 5-year-old toddler, who currently attends a local kindergarten.
In their anecdote, the parent recalled their daughter coming home one day, telling them her 4-year-old friend had conducted a se*ual act against her, an act that would've otherwise been far beyond any toddler's limited comprehension. The 4-year -old friend had allegedly licked her favorite parts, which the friend had emulated from a se*ual video obtained from his/her mother's phone.
Horrifyingly appalled by this discovery, the parent then noted that their child might now need to consult psychological help as they had heard their child praying to god, "Ya Allah, please forgive my sins. I won't do it again, I promise. I want to enter heaven." This, evidently, is an evident display of deep psychological trauma, and would likely get escalated if not treated through proper outlets.
The harms of p*rnography exposure among children can result in troubling effects, and this is sadly, one of them. Indecent exposure to se*ual content at such a young age can alleviate their adherence to such content and in turn, increase their likelihood of perpetrating assault, which is often non-consensual.
Holistic approaches need to be adapted strategically when it comes to controlling the kind of content young children are allowed to consume each day. Surveillance to a certain extent might be our best bet, as well as effective se* education.
